SICAM Clocks Another Successful Year

SICAM, the international exhibition of components, semi-finished products and accessories for the furniture industry, was a huge success with more than 17,000 visitors gracing it. Around 27% of the visitors came from 89 countries outside Italy. The event was held at Pordenone, a furniture manufacturing hub of Italy, from 19-22 October.

“The result of this third edition was fantastic. Visitors from Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, England and Austria took part in the show,” says Carlo Giobbi, organiser of the show. He adds that the event also received excellent participation from South Korea, China, Brazil and the United States. However, Arab countries were not represented adequately, and this Giobbi believes could be due to the political upheaval in the region.

Over 540 exhibitors showcased their products in nine sprawling halls, and 25% of the total exhibitors were from European countries. From multi-national groups to small companies, each one showcased their niche products. The event was also marked by a number of conferences organised by industry leaders including wood components company Egger, edge banding specialist Flessibili Si Nasce, LED lighting company Group First, and the adhesives and sealants industry association AVISA.

Talking about the success of the event, Giobbi states, “We pay a lot of attention to detailing. It is an event where we pay the most obsessive attention to the smallest detail, so that the exhibitors and visitors can be perfectly at ease and just think about their business. We want to continue doing our work and this is what the market needs.”

The exhibition recorded many firsts, the most significant being the agreement signed with ATAP, a public transport company of Pordenone. According to the agreement, all participants had free access to the public transport of Pordenone. SICAM is the first Italian exhibition to offer this service to exhibitors and visitors.
Apart from that, another agreement was made with the organisers of the art exhibition Expressionismo at Villa Manin’s Museum. As per the agreement, visitors and exhibitors could not only get free access to the art exhibition, but also had access to the shuttle buses. A delayed opening time for SICAM attendees was also arranged.

Work on the fourth edition of the exhibition, which would be held from 17-20 November 2012, has already started. “Numerous conformations for the next edition have already been registered. In addition, multiple new requests were received from visiting operators who decided to return in 2012,” adds Giobbi.
